Meeting/Study Room Agreement and Meeting/Study Room Policy
WI-FI — Free Wi-Fi is available 24-7 to patrons and guests of the libraries.
MEETING/STUDY ROOM — The Library has two meeting rooms and three study rooms available for reservation by calling the library, using our Online Booking System, or completing this Form. Reservation of a room implies consent with the Custer County Library Meeting and Study Room Policy in its entirety. Please allow time for set-up and clean-up.
BOOKS — Checked out for 3 weeks. Books are automatically renewed one time if not reserved by another patron.
VIDEOS — Over 3,000 videos available for 1-week check-out. Videos are automatically renewed one time if not reserved by another patron.
DOWNLOADABLES — E-books and audio-books may be checked-out for up to 3 weeks from the Black Hills Library Consortium, powered by OverDrive.
MAGAZINES — Checked out for 3 weeks. The most current issues are non-circulating.
ONLINE RESOURCES — Patrons can access various Online Resources at the State Library’s website. These resources include ProQuest, Ancestry Library, Learning Express Library, World Book, SIRS, among others.
REFERENCE MATERIALS — Most can be checked out for 1 week. Materials that cannot be checked out may be photocopied.
INTERLIBRARY LOAN — If we do not have an item you want, we will try to borrow it from another library. We will look first within the Black Hills Library Consortium, then the libraries of South Dakota, then the libraries across the county. FINES — We no longer charge late fees. However, you are welcome to make a donation to the library. We do still charge fees for damaged and lost materials.
PHOTOCOPIER — 10¢ per side in black-and-white, $1 per side in color; Legal size 25¢ per side in black and white, $1.25 per side in color; 11×17 50¢ per side black-and-white; $1.50 per side in color. Bulk print jobs only in 8 1/2 x 11, maximum of 100 copies.
COMPUTERS/SCANNER — Computers are available for use free-of-charge to patrons and guests who agree to our Computer Use Rules. Computer users are limited to 30 minutes per session and 2 sessions per day. Upon request, time can be extended for those seeking and applying for jobs. All computers can print to a color or laser printer. Scanning services are also available. A game computer is available for your children to use while you look around.
LAPTOP — A laptop is available for use by library card members who need to use the electronic resources, complete applications, conduct job searches, take proctored tests, participate in virtual meetings, create with the Cricut, or connect to the TV screens in our meeting rooms. The laptop is checked out for 2-hour increments and may be renewed up to two times if no one has reserved it.
STORY-TIME — Story-time is offered at 10:00 a.m. on Fridays from September to mid-May except during weeks when Custer Schools are on break. The hour includes stories, coloring, a craft, and a snack.
EDUCATION — The library staff proctors tests for those pursuing advanced education courses on Monday through Friday during library open hours. Arrangements must be made in advance for test proctoring.
